![]() ![]() So mash the button for the exhaust brake tune at the top of the pass, and use it until you get to the bottom of the grade, then select a different towing tune and go on about your business. But based on his other tunes, I'm sure he did a good job on that one, too.īut note that the exhaust brake tune is good only for going down the mountain with a heavy trailer pushing you faster than you want to go. The exhaust brake is a fairly new tune by Jody, and I haven't heard any reports about it from actual users yet. The exhaust brake tune works fine in a multi-position chip with a controller that allows you to change tunes instantly. If you buy the F5 or F6 milti-position chip with controller (tune selector), then one of the "tunes" available is exhaust brake combined with torque converter controller. So when you say "this tuner" I hope you're talking about Jody, and not the X3. That sort of tuner works well with DP-Tuner tunes, but it's not suitable for the exhaust brake tune because it takes two or three minutes to change tunes in the X3. The other kind is a small computer called a tuner or programmer or tuner/programmer, such as the SCT X3 sold by DP-Tuner. If the computer program he writes happens to be a tune installed in the main computer in our trucks, the PCM, then that tuner might be Jody Tipton at DP-Tuner. One is a human bean that is also a computer programmer. In case you are confused, there are two kinds of "tuners". But if you have aftermarket gauges, then you can't go wrong with DP-Tuner tunes. ![]() Unless you try to get by cheap and don't install gauges before you plug in a hot-rod tune of any sort. I don't think you can go wrong with their stuff or their customer service. Diane runs the office and is a real sweetheart. Jody know his business and is an outstanding tuner. ![]() Everything I've heard about Jody and Diane at is that they are wonderful. ![]()
